. Ertl Amputee to cycle 2400 miles .

I realized I had to go home and throw away my handicap sticker."

 - Dan Sheret, Lower Limb Amputee, following his 52 day bike trek across America in 2003

"Adventure" can mean different things to different people. To 42-year old Dan Sheret of Wilmington, North Carolina, it meant nothing less than a grueling 3,800 mile bicycle trek across America just a year following the loss of his lower leg.

Dan having just returned from cycling across Europe announces a 2400 mile cycle ride  to promote the Ertl procedure. Starting at the Amputee Collation of America annual meeting in Nashville Tennessee on August 8th Dan  will cycle a solo and self supported to Bar Harbor Maine. This four week trip will be a continuation of his work to inspire other amputees to Get off the couch and move on with life.   You can follow the journey online at www.ampu-cycle.com where Dan will post his daily journal.
